The theme of this year's ARTSFEST is 3! For the 3RD year in a row, 3RD & Fairfax in Bayview-Hunters Point will come alive with MUSIC, ART, and FUN at the 3RD-annual ARTSFEST hosted by ART 94124 on Saturday June 5 from 12pm–5pm.
The goal of the event is 3-fold:
1 | To bring the growing circle of ART 94124 artists, supporters, and Bayview-Hunters Point community residents together to celebrate art.
2 | To continue to promote ART 94124 as a catalyst for future art exhibits, community projects, and art-related events.
3 | To formally embark on the 3rd year of building the community through art at ART 94124 and the ART 94124 GALLERY.
The fun-filled street fair will feature a great line-up of diverse music, performances, artist booths, art-related vendors and other retailers, info tables from various community groups, art activities for children, a silkscreen demonstration, and chalk drawing, and tasty eats. In the ART 94124 GALLERY will be 3: ART 94124's Anniversary Benefit Group Exhibit, a benefit exhibit that supports future exhibits and events at ART 94124.
Bayview-based Cyclecide will be joining us again this year—with more rides and wacky bike-inspired merriment! Additional ARTSFEST3 highlights, a schedule of activities, and some more details are listed below.
We need your support to make ARTSFEST3 possible!
We are a community-run organization that exists solely due to the hard work and efforts of our volunteer operating team, our growing community of exhibiting artists, and our expanding network of supporters. We are continuing to build on the momentum that we’ve been able to create over the last couple of years, and are eager to put on another lively and engaging ARTSFEST this year.

SPECIAL APPEARANCE! | THE DOGGIE DINER HEADS
ALL DAY! | CYCLECIDE
>
The Heavy Pedal Cyclecide Bike Rodeo is a club (based in the Bayview) of alter-bike mechanics who love bikes and building stuff. In the name of art and carnival-like merriment they will be constructing some of their “pedal powered kinetic sculpture” along Fairfax, and will be bringing some of their zany altered bikes. Their mariachi-country-punk band Los Banos will provide a lively backdrop for a portion of the festivities.
Cyclecide participated in the ARTFEST last year and they were a big hit! We're thrilled to have them back and they'll be bringing more rides, more bikes, and their trademark bike-inspired merriment.
ALL DAY! | A sculpture by THE FLAMING LOTUS GIRLS
The Flaming Lotus Girls are a female-driven, volunteer-based group of artists who have been making kinetic, mechanical fire art since 2000. Their work "stands at the intersection of sculpture, kinetics, robotics, pyrotechnics, and electronic technology." They create interactive large-scale fire installations that engage viewers and invite them to become part of the art.
For the past nine years The Flaming Lotus Girls have grown and thrived, creating installations for The Burning Man Arts Festival in Nevada. We're thrilled to have the BVHP-based Flaming Lotus Girls participating in the ARTSFEST this year. Come see what they bring (and possibly burn) on Fairfax!

The music of ARTSFEST3 kick-off with ART 94124 friend and supporter Charles Unger and the Charles Unger Experience. Anyone who has followed the Bay Area Jazz scene knows Charles Unger as one of the most distinguished sax players around. Sometimes referrred to as "one of San Francisco's best jazz musicians" Charles will be joined by a number of other talented jazz players, including Sam Peoples. "The Charles Unger Experience generates exciting jazz on many different levels, where familiar genres stream forth on a collision course with improvisation to produce a new musical experience for both the artist and audience."
