EXHIBIT | Still Working: Working Artist, Artist Working at 4800 Third Street (@ Oakdale)
Our video installation, Working Artist, Artist Working, is on the move again! ART 94124 is pleased to be partnering with San Francisco Housing Development Corporation to bring the installation to a new venue—4800 Third Street (at Oakdale). This iteration of the video installation, Still Working: Working Artist, Artist Working, will be paired with new works by 13 ART 94124 artists, 7 of whom are featured in the videos. The exhibit will be on view at 4800 Third Street until construction of the restaurant begins in September. Take this opportunity to see this unique raw space before it gets developed into the neighborhood's newest restaurant, the highly-anticipated Radio Africa & Kitchen. Typically a "nomadic restaurant" 4800 Third Street will be Radio Africa's first permanent storefront location. Also, at the event, learn more about the stylish (and affordable) units upstairs. For a virtual tour visit www.4800thirdstreet.com. Hours are Monday through Friday, 12–4pm. Open houses for the units upstairs are on Saturdays and Sundays, 10am–noon. Thanks to SFHDC for hosting the exhibit. About Working Artist, Artist Working Working Artist, Artist Working is a video installation that celebrates a unique and often overlooked truth—Bayview Hunters Point is a neighborhood with a particularly high density of artists living or working within its boundaries. Featuring 7 ART 94124 artists that live and/or work in BVHP, the videos are intended to draw attention to the artistic process, and specifically to draw attention to a BVHP artist working—a nod to the creativity that exists right here in our own neighborhood. The video installation was originally created by ART 94124 as part of Art in Storefronts, an inventive and award-winning initiative launched by the San Francisco Arts Commission and the Mayor's Office. Our video installation was originally on view in the storefront at 4414 Third Street (at Kirkwood) from October 2009–January 2010, then in the Bayview Opera House February 2010–April 2010, and then in The Gallery in Building 101 at Hunters Point Shipyard during Spring Open Studios 2010. About San Francisco Housing Development Corporation (SFHDC) San Francisco Housing Development Corporation (SFHDC) is a community-based, non-profit organization whose mission is to foster financial stability through the development of affordable housing and the facilitation of home ownership. More recently, the organization has expanded its focus to include the economic revitalization of the Third Street Corridor in Bayview Hunters Point and other neighborhoods in Southeast San Francisco. For more information visit their web site, www.sfhdc.org. Next? Do you have an idea where the video installation could go next? Let us know at info@ART94124.com. We'd love to find it another home and keep this locally-inspired and locally-created/produced project alive.
